Eutrophication is a process in which a water body gets enriched with nutrients (like phosphates) which results in excess growth of aquatic life.

Explanation:

In eutrophication, the amount of nutrients in the water body increases. As a result, there is excessive growth of species like algae. These algae consume the oxygen in the water. Due to which, the oxygen available for the aquatic life decreases.

Hope this helps!
