What is the density of a piece of wood that has a mass of 25.0g and a volume of 29.4cm3?

Simply take the quotient....#rho="mass"/"volume"#

Explanation:

By definition, #rho_"density"="mass"/"volume"#...

...and the quotient here directly gives you kosher units....i.e. #rho=g*cm^-3#...clearly a mass per unit volume....and so...

#rho=(25.0*g)/(29.4*cm^3)=0.850*g*cm^-3#...and note that #1*cm^3-=1*mL#...

Would this stuff float on water? Why or why not?
