Solids:
The kinectic energy of the particles is minimum, and are strongly packed together by strong forces of attraction hence only being able to vibrate about their fixed positions.
Liquids:
The distance between particles is a little more hence are able to freely (randomly) move around. Contain more k.e than particles of solids.
