Average force... don't you mean net force?

Well, the net force is given by Newton's second law of motion, which states that

where

#F_"net"# is the force measured in newtons #(N)#

#m# is the mass of the object in #"kg"#

#a# is the acceleration of the object in #"m/s"^2#
