Geologic timescale is the scale of time that involves the distant past of the Earth. It involves large number of years as it goes from the time the Earth formed, some 4.5 billion years ago (4,500,000,000) to today. It is divided into a few eras. Here is a list of them:

Evolution is the scientific explanation of how life diversified from its earliest forms to all the living things we see around us today, and all the things that lived long ago, such as dinosaurs or trilobites, ancient fishes to our early ancestors.
