It is a monoamine neurotransmitter derived from the amino acid tryptophan and is found in the enteric nervous system. It is also produced in the Central Nervous System. Dopamine:
It belongs to the catecholamines and phenyl ethyl amine families and plays an important role in the brain and body. Inside the brain dopamine plays important roles in executive functions, motor control, motivation, arousal, reinforcement and reward. It appears to mediate desire and motivation more than pleasure.
