There are several muscles in the buttock. They are sometimes called the Gluteal muscles. Two of them are superficial:

  1. Gluteus Medius
  2. Gluteus Maximus

The deep muscles are:

  1. Gluteus Minimus
  2. Piriformis
  3. Superior and Inferior Gemellus
  4. Obturator Internus
  5. Quadratus Femoris.
