# What is the number if the sum of twice a number and 14 less than the number is the same as the difference between -26 and the number?

I do not know if I had interpreted correctly your statement, so, take my answer as dubious.
$2 x + \left(x - 14\right) = - 26 - x$
Where $x$ is your number
Solving for $x$ you get:
$4 x = - 12$
$x = - 3$

I am not sure about the bracket $\left(x - 14\right)$...
