What is the primary source of energy for food chains in an ecosystem?

It is the sun in most ecosystems as the light energy is fixed during photosynthesis and then transferred to other organisms via the food chain. In some ecosystems like the ones available deep in the ocean where there in no sun light,the energy coming from chemical reactions in the microorganisms is the primary source of energy.The process is called chemosynthesis in this case and not photosynthesis.
