There is no purpose of extinction. Extinction is the end of a species.

Extinction is end of a species.
This end results due to natural disaster . Example is dinosaurs were extinct due to hitting of meteorite.
Predation is another cause of extinction. In Mauritius Dodo was extinct due to human consumption.
Number instability - If a population of a certain species is below survival number the species is likely to be extinct. There are many species surviving only in restricted areas especially in a zoo. These cannot survive in wild.
Genetically unfit Few existing species are unable to fit to survive in new environment due to genetic unfitness.
In short there is no purpose of extinction
