Federalists believed in a strong central government. They wanted to pass a bunch of legislation and make the country stabilize after the war. Some people too offense to this, thinking it was government overreach. That they were going back to what they fought in the war to avoid. These people were called Antifederalists. Also federalists believed we should hold a strong relationship with Britain, while antifederalists believed we should hold a strong relationship with France.
