The slop passing through #(-2,4) and (7-3)# is #-7/8#

Explanation:

The slope formula is #(y_2-y_2)/(x_2-x_1)#

So the values for those variable are:
X1 = -1
X2 = 7
Y1 = 4
Y2 = -3

So let plug those number back into the formula:

#(-3-4)/(7-(-1)# = #-7/8#

Ok so let examine #7-(-1)# as you may of been confused on how I got #8#. So the negative outside of the parentheses is -1 and it is implied that it is always -1 if no number is written outside of the parentheses. So -1 times -1 gives us positive 1 which changes the sign from subtraction to addition thus being #7+1=8#.
