From the given:#3x^2-12x+7=0#

#a=3# and #b=-12# and #c=7#

#x_1+x_2=(-b+sqrt(b^2-4ac))/(2a)+(-b-sqrt(b^2-4ac))/(2a)=(-b)/a#

#x_1+x_2=(-(-12))/3=4#

Sum of two roots =#-(-12)/3=4#

We know for eq #ax^2+bx+c =0#
Sum of roots = #-b/a=-(-12)/3=4#
