Reparations

Explanation:

The French and English bankrupted Germany by demanding Germany make war reparations. The Weimar Republic, the first government in Germany following WW1 was unable to pay its debt according to the treaty. Add on to that the fact that inflation in 1920s Germany was so rampant the German Mark was hugely devalued on international markets.

This lead to the rise of fringe groups who first blamed it on the generals who had signed the treaties and then blamed it on the Jews claiming they were the bankers and of course they were responsible for Germany's currency problems.
