Plants evaporate water

Explanation:

Plants hold water in their bodies, they use water and this water is called evapotranspiration (in hydrologic cycle). Plants make water droplets hit the area with a lower speed if it rains (Interception). Therefore, erosion rates in green areas are always lower than the erosion rates in open areas (when all other variables are the same).

Plants need to be irrigated when it is dry and this is a subject of water resources engineering/management. If a basin is covered with plants, surface runoff will be slower due to green cover in the area. Therefore, infiltration into the ground will be easier there.
