The sun is the ultimate source of energy for all fossil fuels we use, as these organism derived the energy they needed to live millions of years ago. They are essentially stored solar energy.

Solar PV and thermal energy are directly linked to the sun.

Wind energy is also linked to the Sun as the energy from the sun drives the big atmospheric cells that in turn produce low and high pressure areas - air flows from high to low pressure areas and hence produces, wind.

Water energy, like hydro, is also dependent on the water cycle which is driven by the sun.

Tidal energy is also more linked to the gravitational attraction of the Sun and the Moon.

The only sources that are not linked to the sun are geothermal and nuclear energy which are more linked to energy stored or round in the Earth.
