The bronchi are basically just tubes that connect the trachea and the lungs.
Explanation:
The bronchi are extensions of the trachea that transport air to and from the lungs. Oxygen goes to the lungs and carbon dioxide leaves the lungs through them. They lead to bronchioles which lead to the alveoli which do the actual exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide from the bloodstream.
