Impressment is the forced capture and enlistment of enemy sailors.
Explanation:
During this time period, many British ships captured american merchant vessels, and forced American troops to become British sailors. This, obviously upset the Americans, as they lost men and boats. The tension this caused was a contributing cause to the War of 1812
