The Oregon Trail

Explanation:

The Oregon Trail is the most popularized overland route ( in my opinion). This massive movement of people from the eastern US to the the Oregon Territory captured the imagination of history.

The Cumberland Gap and the national road opened up the Ohio Territory, ( Kentucky , Indiana , Illinious and Ohio. would be a contender but has largely been forgotten in history.

The Santa Fe Trail would should also be considered. However the Santa Fe Trail was used primarily for trade not immigration so was not as popular.

There were so many wagons that traveled the Oregon Trail that there are places where the ruts from their passage can still be seen.
This is after almost 200 years of erosion and other uses.
