Assuming you mean the Chinese Long March starting in 1934, The Nationalist army was successful in the 5th Encirclement Campaign. The Jiangxi-Fujian Soviet area became untenable for the Communists.

Explanation:

Mao had fallen from power and the Russian adviser Otto Braun and other Chinese prevailed. Initially, the Long March was badly planned, and carrying far too much extra baggage. After a defeat, The Zunyi Conference in 1935 re-shuffled the communist leadership, Mao was on the rise again, Otto Braun was out of influence and the communists dumped a lot of their extra baggage.
After an arduous march the communist made it to the North of China where they began to rebuild.
