When doing UNIVERSAL GRAVITATION questions, is d = the radius of the object or d = the distance between both objects? How can you tell??

#d# is the distance between the two objects obtained by a line connecting their centre of mass.

As per Newton's law of Gravitation,the gravitational force is inversely proportional to the square of the length of the line joining the centre of two objects.
