Tundra (Arctic and Antarctic) is treeless biome, includes areas where the subsoil is permanently frozen (permafrost).

Explanation:

Parts of north Russia, Alaska (USA), north Canada, and parts of NewZealand, as well as Antarctica are included in tundra biome. Trees are absent in tundra because of very short growing season when temperature rises above zero degree Celsius.
