Who were the allies in World War II?
2 Answers
Many "nations" could be called "the Allies" in World War 2.
Explanation:
A lot of the Western Hemisphere including South America could be called "The Allies". It also included all of the Commonwealth countries.
USA, Britain, Russia, China, Free French, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, South Africa, Ethiopia, Egypt (as a British Protectorate), India, Malta, Brazil, and many others. Many Commonwealth countries were technically independent from Britain by 1931 but had reciprocal military agreements with Britain.
A lot switch sides during the War: Romania and Italy were significant reversals. There were a lot of governments in exile. Holland, Poland, and others established administrations in Britain.
This is the Allies before the Pearl Harbor attacks. (Dark Green)
Ethiopia is strangely included as Axis Italian territory but it had fallen to the British and Ethiopians in 1940
