Lipids are fats. In the human body they take the form of phospholipids, cholesterol and triglycerides.

Explanation:

Triglycerides play a role in energy storage and provide a layer of insulation under the skin and protective cushioning around the organs. They are used in the making of myelin sheaths that surround the nerve cells.

The body uses cholesterol to make steroids such as esterogens, progesterone and testosterone. Cholesterol is a major component of bile and is important in synthesis of vitamin D.

Phospholipids are utilised by the body to make cell membranes.
