Why are more fossils found from the Paleozoic era than Precambrian time?

Fossils in PreCambrian rocks tend to be mostly microscopic, except for stromatolites (see Pic).

Also, larger Precambrian fossils were soft-bodied and did not have hard parts that would be more easily preserved. PreCambrian rocks have also gone through various degrees of metamorphism that tends to destroy fossils. Finally, macroscopic life, like molluscs developed hard shells and really began to thrive and take off in the Palaeozoic.
