Why did tensions escalate between Israel and Egypt in 1952?

After World War 2, both groups were promised the Palestine areas by Britain.

It's like if I promised you the last cookie if you do a favor, but I promised another person the same exact cookie after doing the same favor.... it is a breeding ground for disaster.

Especially since the Jewish population were traumatized by their persecution in WW2, they thought that they should get the holy lands for some gesture of compensation after the horrible genocide.
