Transportation and Industrialization.

Explanation:

Developed regions often are bigger in size, and transportation becomes an issue. More vehicles are created which use fuel that emit gases such as methane or carbon dioxide, which pollute the air. Industrial facilities that boost a region's economy can also spew out these toxic chemicals. Of course, there are many more examples out there, and you will probably be able to find some on the internet!
