When Pluto was discovered its correct diameter was not known.
Explanation:
Many objects like dwarf planets in the kuiper belt Like sedna, Eris Humea make make were later found .So astronomers do not wanted to increase the number of planets.Pluto is the smallest among the 9 planets and its orbit is highly tilted to ecliptic.
