It's important to make accurate weather forecasting because it can save lives by better preparing people for an upcoming event. Additionally, people can be appropriately clothed for the weather.

For example, here in Texas and the rest of the tornado alley, using doppler radars, helicopters, and ground spotters / amateur radio is extremely important. This gives us extra lead time to be able to get to a shelter and protect ourselves and our families. This is true for other parts of the world that experience different kinds of natural disasters.

Another important aspect of accurate weather forecasting is the collection of data for research. The average temperatures or patterns in an area can be used for research in climatology, ecology, and for improvement in accuracy.
