Why is the hepatic portal vein a vein?

Vein is any blood vessel which takes impure blood towards heart ( except Pulmonary vein ).
The lower abdominal veins from stomach , pancreas etc unite and form the Hepatic portal vein in Liver and this hepatic portal vein which has deoxygenated blood later combines with vena cava which takes that deoxygenated blood to heart.
