Why were programs such as the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) and Works Progress Administration (WPA) credited with helping to unite Americans?

Explanation:

The New Deal was passed during FDR's presidency in order to fix the crisis. The CCC and the WPA were part of those administration which led to great works being accomplished. They provided work to young unemployed bachelors. By relieving both unemployment and poverty they helped maintain the unity of the country.
