Why would Germans worry about the alliance between France and Russia?

Probably because Germany was and still is located in between the two nations and, in case of war, would have been forced to fight on two fronts simultaneously (a not very strategical advantageous situation indeed!).
Explanation:
Observing the map of Europe you can see that the central position of Germany can be an advantage in the sense of being at the center and be able to reach easily any other nations but at the same time this situation puts her in danger of being surrounded by enemies.
During the First and Second World Wars Germany faced exactly this situation.
During the first the fact of being forced to fight Russia as well as France was probably one of the factors that weakened her thrust towards France allowing the French Army to resist and turn the war into a trench warfare slaughterhouse.
During the second Germany, basically, to avoid to fight on two fronts simultaneously first engaged and won the first enemy, France, and only after went for Russia....as we now know probably not a very good idea anyway!
