It is more likely that humankind will bring about its own ultimate demise.

Explanation:

While this is a difficult question to answer conclusively, the history of the Earth has shown its capacity to weather tremendous changes. The global changes that are now being manifest, and traced to human intervention and spread, seem irreversible.

What could probably happen is that the changes will become so severe as to cause mass deaths among vast populations of humans, the remaining few either adaptively changing or surviving by sheer perseverance.

Once the human population (and their influence) has been reduced considerably, it is very likely that Earth will recover, use all the #CO_2# in the atmosphere to regenerate plants, trees, and forests, clean itself up, and recreate a balanced world.

This is my opinion.
