Working on a lab for Chem- my tutor is stuck so thought I'd ask here. NaN3 + KNO3 gives a reaction of N2 gas. We got a 2:1 ratio but the other data given to us doesn't have a volume for the gas (pv=nrt). Any ideas? Thank you.

This seems to be the reaction for an air bag explosion,

#10NaN_3 + 2KNO_3 to 16N_2(g) + 5Na_2O + K_2O#

If the "ratio" is regarding the reactants, per the balanced equation above, they are present in a 5 to 1 ratio, not a 2 to 1 ratio.

You need to give us more data from the experiment in order to give us an opportunity to answer this question fully.
