x^2 + 2x -35 = (x+7)(x-5)

It depends upon what you mean by "solve".
If you only need to factor the equation the answer is given above.

If you want to solve for x if the given equation is set equal to 0.
either
(x+7) = 0
rarr x = -7
or
(x-5) = 0
rarr x = 5
