Why could Bohr’s model be called a planetary model of the atom?

1 Answer

The Bohr Model of the atom is very much like our solar system, with a sun as the center like the nucleus of the atom and the planets locked in defined orbits like the electrons locked in orbits around the nucleus.

We now understand that electrons are found in orbital clouds and their motion is random within that three dimensional orbital space.

I hope this is beneficial.
