Solubility are created to determine the amount of solute that can be dissolved in a given amount of solvent based upon temperature.

The most common solubility graphs are based upon the temperature and amount of solute in a volume of 100 g of water.

Using solubility graphs an individual can also distinguish between solubility of solids and gases. A solubility curve of a solid will have an upward trend or positive slope, while a gas will have a downward trend or negative slope.
