Erwin Schrodinger's model of the atom is a more accurate representation of the molecular activity within an atom.

Above is Bohr 's model of the atom. It was developed in 1913, and he proposed that electrons followed stationary orbits around the nucleus.

Schrodinger's model is more complex, and was proposed in 1926. His model defeated Bohr's idea of fixed orbits, thus acknowledging the electrons' erratic movements.

His model, known as the quantum mechanical model of the atom, includes electrons in clouds of energy, rather than orbits, and involves complex calculations in order to know the probability of an electron's location in its cloud at a given moment.

Below is the evolution of atom models.
