Well, neglecting the effect of air the only force affecting the motion of a projectile is gravity. The effect of this force on your projectile is to exert an acceleration on it indicated with "g" (with magnitude #=9,81 m/s^2# ).

This acceleration is directed downwards (towards the centre of Earth) and makes the vertical component vy of the initial velocity of your projectile change in time during the flight of the projectile.
The horizontal component vx of the initial velocity does not change and stays constant during the flight.
