I am not sure what you mean by a medical explanation. Are you referring to the way that they affect the body or body cells are how they activate the immune system or how the body responds to them, or how and why antibiotics affect them differently. All of these would be extensive answers. Please can you be more specific.

Think about the structure of cells. Do viruses have these structures, do bacteria have these structures.?

What living processes can the two carry out?

Think about RNA and DNA. Check whether viruses and bacteria are the same here.

How do viruses reproduce and how do bacteria reproduce. How would this affect a living cell and indeed the immune system

What are exotoxins and what affect have they on living cells and indeed on the hypothalamus. Do bacteria and viruses both produce exotoxins.

What are surface proteins and antigens. Do bacteria and viruses both have these. How do they affect our immune system

Lastly how do antibiotics work... Different ones work in different ways acting on key cellular processes and structures. Do viruses and bacteria have the same processes and structures.
