This is a redox (oxidation-reduction) reaction. The Na was oxidized from 0 in Na to +1 in #"Na"_2"O"#, and the N was reduced from +5 in #"KNO"_3"# to 0 in #"N"_2#. The oxidation numbers of the other elements did not change.
