Use your previos knowledge of chemistry to answer this question!

NaCl is soluble in water? Yes.

How come? Because ionic salts (#Na^+ Cl^-#) are soluble in polar substances (#H_2O#).

The next question is: What is the difference between the ethanol solvent (#CH_3OH#), acetone (#CH_3COCH_3#) or hexane (#C_6H_14#)? It is the polarity! Increasing order of polarity: hexane < acetone < ethanol.

Therefore the NaCl dissolves better in ethanol, partly in acetone, and little or nothing in hexane.
