They form water and a salt through a reaction called "Neutralization Reaction".

The classical good old example to this is the reaction of Hydrochloric Acid (HClHCl) and Sodium Hydroxide (NaOHNaOH).

HClHCl ++ NaOHNaOH

Will break up into

H^+H+ Cl^-Cl ++ Na^+Na+ OH^-OH

And reacting them together will result in this attraction

H^+H+ OH^-OH ++ Na^+Na+ Cl^-Cl

Which will bind together and form this

H_2 OH2O ++ NaClNaCl

So basically the reaction will be like this:

HClHCl ++ NaOHNaOH -> H_2 OH2O ++ NaClNaCl
