They form water and a salt through a reaction called "Neutralization Reaction".

The classical good old example to this is the reaction of Hydrochloric Acid (#HCl#) and Sodium Hydroxide (#NaOH#).

#HCl# #+# #NaOH#

Will break up into

#H^+# #Cl^-# #+# #Na^+# #OH^-#

And reacting them together will result in this attraction

#H^+# #OH^-# #+# #Na^+# #Cl^-#

Which will bind together and form this

#H_2 O# #+# #NaCl#

So basically the reaction will be like this:

#HCl# #+# #NaOH# #-># #H_2 O# #+# #NaCl#
