How do you solve #abs(3 - 6x) - 3 = 3x -abs(x+2)#?
1 Answer
x = 0.25
Start by dropping your parenthesis on the left side of the equation mark, since it has no + or - in front of it the - inside does nit change.
Then you drop the parenthesis on the right, but look out for the - in front of it, always when there is a - in front of a parenthesis it changes the symbol inside it, so the + turn into a -.
Then you should have 3 - 6x - 3 = 3x - x - 2
At this point it is just a regular equation, so you can start by getting rid of the 3's on the left side (3 - 3) and subtract the one x from the 3 x's (3x-x) on the right.
Then you move your 2 x to the right side, and change the + to a - as you go over the equation symbol.
Now you have - 8x (-6x-2x) on the left and a - 2 on the right side.
Now all you have to do is divide -2 by -8 (-2/-8) and you have your answer.
And to make sure it is correct you can put your number for x, in this case 0,25 into the equation.
3 - 6 * 0,25 - 3 = 3 * 0,25 - 0,25 +2
you should get the same number on both sides of the equation mark, in this case -1,5
Hope this helps
