The resultant force in an action-reaction force pair are not balanced(
Consider you playing baseball! When the ball comes at you, you have to hit it with your bat, right? According to newton's 3rd law, the force that your bat exerts on the ball, is equal and opposite to the reaction which the ball exerts on your bat.
You see that the action and reaction are on two different bodies.
If the action and reaction where on the same body, then the ball would stop moving when you hit it.., or you wouldn't feel any jerk or pain upon hitting the ball !
