The equation of motion should be #s=vt# where #s# is the distance and #v# is the velocity (no acceleration involved); but here you have to consider the initial position not at zero but at #10m# (when you start your stopwatch the car is at the #10m# mark!)) so you get:
#color(red)(s=vt+10)#

At #t=0# your car is already at #s(0)=10m# while at #t=8s# your car is at #s(8)=vt+10=5*8+10=50m#.
