Two stages are involved in the chloroplast.
1) Light dependent reactions i.e; photophorylation reactions. Where using sunlight the chlorophyll absorbs energy and stores it for the next step. Takes place on the membrane.

2) Calvin cycle, light independent reaction. Takes place on the stroma, inside the chloroplast. There are many enzymes in the chloroplast that aid to form starch by photosynthesis. The energy stored is transferred to the stroma and with the other raw materials chains of carbohydrate molecules are produced.
