This is a geometric sequence

Explanation:

For an arithmetic sequence you have to add/subtract the same number to each successive term.
For example if the first term is 2 and you add 2 to each term you get
2, 4, 6, 8........etc
With 2,4,8,16 you are multiplying each successive term by 2 to get
2 * 2 = 4
4 * 2 = 8
8 * 2 = 16 etc
geometric sequences can also involve successive divisions
