You asked 'how' to solve. So I have taken it to a point where you can take over, The layout given is an example of good mathematics.

Given:
$5x+3y=2........................................(1)$
$-x+5y=4.......................................(2)$

Rewrite 1 and 2 as:

$y= -5/3x+2/3................................(1_a)$
$y=1/5x+4/5......................................(2_a)$

But $(1_a) = y = (2_a)$

So

$-5/3x+2/3 = 1/5x+4/5$

This can now be solved by collecting like terms and isolating $x$ .
