A vesicle is a section of the phospholipid bilayer that is used to encapsulate material that is being brought into or taken out of a cell. The material is not necessarily only nutrition or waste, as it can be bringing in foreign material (such as bacteria into a white blood cell) or secreting enzymes to be used in digestion, etc. Proteins cause sections of the membrane to close around something inside or outside of the cell to then be moved across the membrane of the cell.
